Fly Fishing Guide Service Based Out of Eugene, Oregon

The angling options around the Eugene area never cease to amaze me. Within 2 hours you can be wading some of the most revered steelhead water in all of angling, a 5 minute drive and you’re swinging flies in an urban steelhead environment like no other.

The lower Mckenzie carves its path just north of town, offering locals some of the best urban trout fishing anywhere. I use urban loosely because once on the river you are amidst pasture lands and orchards, with banks guarded by immense cottonwoods. It is hardly urban, but a 15 min drive from downtown Eugene puts you at one of the half dozen boat ramps on the lower river.

The river’s proximity to Eugene offers the traveling angler a unique opportunity to sneak away for a couple of hours and enjoy world class trout fishing.

To anglers looking to experience  the lower Mckenzie,  my brother and I are offering 1/2 day guided trips at a discounted rate of $275 (normally $350) now through March 31.

What’s included:

  • 4-5 hours of guided fishing
  • all tackle and flies
  • beverages

This is designed to take advantage of the lower river’s prolific March Brown mayfly hatch which occurs from approx. 1 to 3pm. It does take a specific type of weather (wet) for this hatch to materialize, so it doesn’t happen everyday. However, on the days not suitable for dry fly fishing, there is consistent nymphing.
